A pain in the...EAR?

Baileigh showing you her ear...

On Friday afternoon at 3:00, I got a call from Baileigh's school that she was running a fever of 101. So I left work and went to get her. Of course, it would work out that she gets a fever in the late afternoon, her pediatrician is no longer in the office, and the group that takes weekend call doesn't start taking call until 8:00 am on Saturday. So...what to do? It worked out that I got a nurse to immediately call me back (bless her heart) and she got us in at the Children's Hospital After Hours Clinic on Acton Road. So we got an appointment for 4:45. Chip was still at work so Baileigh and I went straight from the school to the doctor. AND...to my surprise we didn't have to wait for hours like I expected. Actually we were leaving the office at 5:40!

So...it turned out that both of her ears were infected. Of course, immediately, I thought that I had caused it because I have been pouring cups of water over her head when I wash her hair at night and just let it run down but I haven't really been worrying about getting water in her ears. So, I asked the doctor if that caused it and he assured me that it had not. Apparently, ear infections are caused by bacteria (who knew?!). She is now on a round of antibiotics and is doing much better.

(Laying with daddy while she felt bad...and now she is feeling better!)

One of Baileigh's new things to do is stick out her tongue (she thinks she is hysterical when she does this, by the way...and totally expects you to laugh at her). I took a couple of pictures (because it really is funny how hard she will try to make you laugh) before I had to start getting onto her when she decided that the perfect time to do this was right after I stuck a spoonful of food right into her mouth.
On our way to school...and, yes that is a hairbrush in her mouth (and no it is not the one I brush her hair with - come on, give me a little credit!). This hairbrush has become one of her favorite toys since she started teething...again, don't ask; I have no idea why the child prefers a hairbrush as her pesonal chew toy.

Don't you just love those calls from the daycare? I dread it every time I see their number pop up on caller id. Glad to hear Baileigh is feeling better.I can't believe how much hair she has!!! And how much she looks like Chip! Why is is that we carry them for 9 months and do all the work, but they look just like their daddy?! It's just not fair!

Bennie brought your gifts to us and oh my goodness....you are TOO MUCH! The tutu for Lainie is absolutely adorable and Emmie's bag is so cute. We also loved the outfit you sent for Emmie. You guys did way too much. I am working on thank you notes, but wanted to tell you how much we appreciated you thinking of us. You guys are so sweet!

Hope to make it to Birmingham sometime in the next few months. We will have to plan to get together with the girls.

Avy had 5 ear infections in a year. We thought we were going to have to get tubes. When I took her out of daycare, haven't had one since. Our ENT told us that some were caused by staff that is in daycare. Good Luck. I hope she doesn't get anymore. :)
